HM the King’s Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs and Royal Endurance Team Captain, HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, has successfully qualified for and returned to the “Elite Jockeys” list after clinching the first place in the international 160-kilometre qualifying race, held at the Bahrain International Endurance Village, within the season’s qualifiers.
HH Shaikh Nasser expressed delight at reaching the elite list in which the kingdom’s jockeys are always present, which, he said, affirms the distinguished status of Bahrain’s endurance at international gatherings, noting that the 160-km race is part of the Royal Endurance Team’s preparations for the next world championship, to be held in Italy.
HH Shaikh Nasser asserted that the Royal Endurance Team is well-prepared for the upcoming World Endurance Championship in which the best horses and jockeys will compete.
HH Shaikh Nasser said that the Bahrain Royal Equestrian and Endurance Federation (BREEF) will hold more 160-km races this season, and that the season’s calendar allows jockeys to get assured about the readiness of their horses for international competitions.
The season’s 160-km qualifying race featured five stages of 40 kms (red), 35 kms (blue), 35 kms (green), 30 kms (white) and 20 kms (yellow).
HH Shaikh Nasser clinched the first place, while jockeys Abdulrahman Al-Zayed, and Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, came second and third, respectively.
