Russia : Bahrain’s Embassy to Russia, in cooperation with the Moscow State University for International Relations and the United Religions Organization, held a reception at the historic Petrov Palace in Moscow.
The event was on the occasion of the decision of the Board of Trustees of the Moscow State University for International Relations to grant His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa an honorary doctorate in appreciation of His Majesty’s role in promoting peaceful coexistence and dialogue between different religions and cultures.
The ceremony was attended by a number of political and religious figures, including the representative of the Muftis Shura Council in the Religious Administration of Muslims of Russia, the representative of His Eminence the Patriarch of the Orthodox Church of All Russia, the Chief Rabbi of the Jews in the Russian Federation and a number of members of the Russian Parliament.
The ceremony was also attended by a delegation of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry, headed by Mr. Samir Abdullah Nass, who are in Moscow to attend the meetings of the Joint Business Council.
Bahrain’s Ambassador to the Russian Federation, Ahmed Abdulrahman Al-Saati, said in a speech at the ceremony that the vision of His Majesty the King to inaugurate the dialogue of civilizations and religions began more than two decades ago, from the belief of His Majesty that it is the fastest path towards the development, prosperity and stability of countries.
He referred in this regard to the establishment of the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence to oversee the implementation of this vision, build bridges of friendship and cooperation with countries and people of the world and spread the values of tolerance and moderation.
He added that the signing the Abraham Accords by the Kingdom of Bahrain comes as a road map for an era of security and prosperity in the Middle East.
Representatives of the Council of Muftis, the Patriarch of Russia, the Chief Rabbi, the Chairman of the Russian-Bahraini Parliamentary Friendship Committee, and the representative of the organization also delivered speeches in which they praised the distinguished leadership personality of HM the King, and His Majesty’s prominent roles at the international level in promoting peace and stability in the world and consolidating the values of coexistence and cooperation among different religions and cultures.
The speakers emphasized that the wise policy of His Majesty the King made Bahrain an example to be followed in supporting human and civilized values in order to build a world of peace and harmony.
Ambassador Al-Saati presented a souvenir from the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence to the United Religions Organization, which is the declaration of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa that includes the principles of coexistence among people of the world.
