Manama: The Universities 195 Higher Education Virtual Conference kicked off today under the patronage of Education Minister Dr. Majid bin Ali Al Nuaimi. The opening ceremony was attended by an elite of ministers, presidents of universities, technical and vocational institutes, experts, and interested participants from different countries. The conference was deemed one of the biggest specialized conferences specialized in higher, technical, and vocational education.
Dr. Al Nuaimi praised the efforts made to organize the conference which brought together 195 universities as well as technical and vocational institutes from across the world. He wished the conference every success in coming up with recommendations that contribute to upgrading the higher, technical, and vocational education sector. He pointed out the growing role of those institutions in economic development and feeding the labor market with highly qualified graduates.
The Minister of Education stressed the great importance given by the Kingdom of Bahrain to investing in higher education, pointing out the great importance accorded to technical and vocational education which officially started in the 1930s. He also reviewed the kingdom’s efforts to ensure the sustainability of education during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic by applying e-learning. He pointed out in-person lessons as an additional option being adopted with the world’s tendency to return to normal life. He stressed adherence to the precautionary measures, adding that Bahrain has proven its success in crises management and ensuring no disruption of the educational process in all stages.
Dr. Al Nuaimi wished the conference every success in coming up with visions to continue serving the educational process and learn from previous experience to handle the situation in case the pandemic continues.
