Cairo : The Kingdom of Bahrain won today a seat in the Federation of Arab Journalists (FAJ). Board member of Bahrain Journalists Association (BJA), Head of International Relations, Rashed Nabeel Al Hamer, was elected as Assistant Secretary General of FAJ with 71 votes out of 80.
The election of FAJ Secretariat General was held on the sidelines of the 14th general congress held by the federation in its permanent headquarters in Cairo, under the patronage of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
FAJ congress convenes every four years in the presence of a delegation comprising four members from every Arab country, alongside the 15 members of the Secretariat General. The federation’s preparatory committee was set up in 1964.
FAJ was set up in Cairo in 1964 as an expression of the desire of Arab journalists to unify their vision within a strong entity that can defend their causes and those of the Arab world.
