Under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Team Victorious and KHK led by His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs, and His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of the General Sports Authority and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee as well as Kristian Blummenfelt came second at the IRONMAN 70.3 Middle East Championship Bahrain which took place on Friday, featuring 1061 sportspeople representing 77 countries.
His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa participated in the cycling race and put on a strong performance that allowed the team to finish second in the race, while His Highness Shaikh Khalid also produced a great display in the swimming race and played a key role in securing the runner-up position. They were joined by Kristian Blummenfelt of Norway who participated in the running race. Commenting on this, His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa expressed his happiness with this result, which came thanks to the great efforts of His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa and Blummenfelt.
His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa praised the strong return of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa to the swimming sport, praising at the same time the efforts of the world champion Blummenfelt in the running race.
His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain achieved a new success added to the series of accomplishments in organising the Ironman Championship for the sixth time in the history of the Kingdom.

His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa was able to finish the 90.1km cycling race with a time of two hours, 10 minutes and 42 seconds, while His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa completed the swimming competition in 41 minutes and 34 seconds. Meanwhile, Blummenfelt clocked 1 hour 8 minutes 4 seconds in the running contest. Team Victorious and KHK crossed the finish line in 4 hours, 3 minutes and 19 seconds.
Meanwhile, the Bahrain Victorious 13 team’s triathlete Vincent Luis won the men’s race, while Marjolaine Pierre triumphed in the women’s category.
