Manama : President of the Electricity and Water Authority (EWA), Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed, has announced that a new customer services and billing system will be launched in early February. The new system is part of EWA’s comprehensive development strategy, and is focused on advancing digital transformation in the authority in order to enhance the quality of services provided to customers.
The President of EWA stressed that the new system is comprehensive and capitalises on the latest technologies used in securing optimum service delivery. Turning to the advantages of the new system, Kamal bin Ahmed explained that facilitation of electricity and water services will be more efficient, and that the format of bills, and the information they display will be clearer. He also added that billing operations will undergo further optimization to ensure increased transparency and accuracy.
To ensure a successful launch, EWA’s President outlined that more than 1,000 employees at the authority and relevant entities have undergone intensive training programmes on the new system. Additionally, all the necessary logistical requirements have been secured to ensure an efficient transfer of operations under set standards. In this regard, the authority worked closely with a number of stakeholders, including banks and government entities, to guarantee a smooth and seamless launch of the new system.
The President of EWA underlined that the launch of the new system follows a series of development projects undertaken by the authority with the aim of providing an integrated, modern, and smart system. This included developing electricity and water transportation and distribution infrastructure, initiating the digital metres’ installation project, and working on a project to establish a new control centre for electricity and water networks, to ensure and advanced and robust electricity and water sector.
