The number of confirmed cases among expatriate workers reached 1909 as of April 26, of which 95.5% are working under a legal framework

“Only 1.7% of confirmed cases of migrant workers are holders of flexible work permits. The legal employment rate of existing cases is 89%, while the violation rate of employment is 9%, and the percentage of expatriates on a visitor visa is 2%. Business owners have agreed to provide buildings for the precautionary quarantine of their workers”, said Mr. Ausamah Al-Absi, CEO of the Labor Market Regulatory Authority.

42% of the buildings designated for precautionary quarantine for expatriate workers are free housing for workers to rent and are inhabited by 2739 workers, as the state guarantees provision of meals, medicine, and care to its residents, providing 23,500 meals during the past five days.

Since February, 1,719,206 educational awareness messages have been sent to foreign workers, and 577,000 people have viewed educational information on its Facebook page.

“There is an integrated work plan in coordination with the Ministry of Interior and Health when monitoring any existing situation between expatriate workers that includes identifying the names of the contacts and their place of residence, and checking the building in which they live if it belongs to the employer or free housing, where meals are provided for residents of free housing”, highlighted Mr. Osama Al-Absi.
