Ottawa, The second round of political consultations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and Canada was held in Ottawa. It was headed by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs, Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa and the Assistant Deputy Minister for Europe, Arctic, Middle East and Maghreb at the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development of Canada, Sandra McCardell.
During the meeting, the Undersecretary affirmed Bahrain’s commitment to further develop cooperation with Canada in various fields and exchange experiences to achieve the vital interests of both countries and peoples.
The two sides discussed regional and international issues of common interest, prospects for bilateral cooperation, and strengthening international partnership in ensuring maritime security, combating extremism and terrorism, and consolidating security, stability and peace in the Middle East and the world.
For her part, the Canadian official welcomed the visit of the Bahraini delegation to Ottawa, noting her appreciation for Bahrain’s commitment to tolerance and peaceful coexistence in the Middle East through various initiatives.
She also stressed her country’s keenness to strengthen bilateral partnership for the benefit and development of both countries.
