The ministry has also participated in several media initiatives, including the publication of stories for children titled “Heed your health”.

Al Saleh said that the health cities initiative represents one of the key programmes promoted by the World Health Organisation (WHO) to improve health, economic and social conditions in towns.

She noted that Umm Al-Hassam became the first area to obtain the certificate of accreditation of the Healthy Cities Program in Bahrain.

The accreditation criteria for the city of Manama were met in February 2020 and then the city of Manama was announced as the first health capital in the Eastern Mediterranean Region in a virtual ceremony in June 2021.

Work underway to meet the program standards in Busaiteen, Al-Saya and A’ali areas, and it is expected that they will be approved this year

Al Saleh stressed the ministry’s keenness on spreading health awareness for travelers to prevent diseases while traveling through the “Your Health in Travel” initiative, where a list of necessary vaccinations for travelers has been developed

COVID-19 tips for travelers going abroad and those coming to Bahrain were published in various media during the years 2020 and 2021.

Coordination is underway to include the information that the traveler needs in the “My destination” application of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
