British Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Monday made his first public appearance after nearly a month in hospital and many days in intensive care due to coronavirus (COVID-19).
Britain was “beginning to turn the tide” in tackling COVID-19, said Boris Johnson in a statement outside his Downing Street office.
This is the “biggest single challenge” UK has faced since the war, Boris said.
He indicated that there will be no immediate lifting of lockdown restrictions.
“We must also recognize the risk of a second spike, the risk of losing control of that virus and letting the reproduction rate go back over one because that would mean not only a new wave of death and disease but also an economic disaster,” he said.
