Bahrain : A major sports conference will open tomorrow, Thursday, under the patronage of His Majesty the King’s Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
The Ministry of Health and Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Specialist Cardiac Centre are co-organising the congress under the theme “Athlete’s Heart”.
HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad gave directives to hold the congress in order to discuss the causes of sports-related deaths and prevent such fatalities to protect citizens and residents’ health and safety.
Health Ministry Undersecretary Dr. Waleed bin Khalifa Al Manea said that the importance of the conference which reflects HH Shaikh Nasser’s keenness on promoting safe sports exercise
He hailed the Government’s keenness on promoting the health sectors and keeping abreast of latests medical and scientific developments to reduce death cases among the sports community.
Organising Committee Chairman, Consultant Cardiologist and Interventional Cardiac Electrophysiologist at the Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Khalifa Cardiac Centre Dr. Adel Khalifa stressed the importance of the conference which would further enhance Bahrain’s medical standing
He said that the three-day conference, which features forty scientific lectures and five workshops, will be attended by keynote speakers from Bahrain and abroad, to discuss causes of death among athletes and highlight safe and sound methods of practicing sports activity.
