    15% senior discount sa kuryente, tubig lusot na sa House panel

    Lusot na sa House Committee on Ways and Means ang panukalang maitaas sa 15 porsiyento ang diskwento  ng mga senior citizen na may  bayarin sa tubig at kur­yente.

    Sinabi ni Senior Citizen party-list Rep. Rodolfo Ordanes ang mga residente na ang konsumo sa kuryente ay hindi hihigit sa 100 kilowatt hour kada buwan at 30 cubic meter sa tubig lamang ang mabibigyan ng diskwento.

    Gayunman ayon kay Ordanes na napagdesisyunan nila na huwag ng bigyan ng diskwento sa value-added tax ang konsumo sa kuryente at tubig ng mga senior citizen dahil sa laki ng mawawalang kita sa gobyerno.

    “The original proposal in substitute bill consolidating 8 bills was 10% discount, but this was increased to 15% after it was conceded that the proposed value added tax (VAT) exemption would result in about P3.1 billion in revenue losses for the national government, so the VAT exemption was dropped and the discount was raised to 15%,” ani Ordanes.Si Ordanes ang nag-sponsor ng panukala sa House Committee on Ways and Means na naglalayong dagdagan ang tulong na nakukuha ng mga senior citizen sa gitna ng patuloy na pagtaas ng presyo ng mga bilihin.
