    83 Bahraini doctors vying for Premier’s award

    A total of 83 eligible male and female Bahraini doctors are in the fray for Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa Award for Bahraini Doctor in its first and second categories, the award’s Secretariat revealed.

    The award will be given away during the Bahrain Doctor Day celebration on November 4.

    50 candidates have submitted their applications for the first category of the award on innovation and creativity in therapeutic and clinical medical research while 33 applicants are vying for the second category, “Extended Loyalty and Giving Award”, the Secretariat pointed out, adding that the deadline for submitting applications was September 5.

    It noted that after assessing the nominations and ascertaining that they meet eligibility criteria, they were referred, alongside the curriculum vitas and the participants’ medical researches, to the jury which comprises representatives from HRH the Prime Minister’s Court, well-reputed international experts from the World Health Organisation (WHO) as well as European and American universities, Presidents of the Arabian Gulf University (AGU) and the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland-Bahrain and President of Bahrain Medical Society.

    The Jury will do the assessment, which is expected to be completed by end of October, 2020, according to set up criteria before announcing the names of the winners.

    The award’s Secretariat thanked the participants, stressing the importance of active participation in the award which is a tribute for the doctors’ efforts and noble sacrifices.
