Bahrain: Minister of Labour and Social Development, Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, chaired virtually today the 7th meeting of the GCC Labour Ministers Committee and the 7th meeting of the GCC Ministers of Social Affairs Committee.
The meetings were attended by the GCC Ministers of Labour and Social Affairs. Present was also GCC Secretary General, Dr. Nayef Falah Al Hajraf.
In an inaugural speech of the two meetings, the Minister of Labour and Social Development conveyed the greetings of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and their best wishes of every success to the session to come up with resolutions to support the GCC work.
Humaidan praised the concluding communique and “Al-Ula Declaration” which underscored the significance of preserving the GCC achievements. He pointed out the directives of the Supreme Council to focus on the economic and development projects aimed at promoting the welfare of the GCC nationals. He also underlined the importance of the resolutions reached in the labour and social fields, including adopting policies to cope with the changes in the GCC labour markets, embracing successful experiences to keep low rates of unemployment, creating decent job opportunities of added value to guarantee economic and social stability and promoting the spirit of social solidarity.
The Labour and Social Development Minister also spotlighted the repercussions of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic. He affirmed, in this context, that the GCC countries are facing many challenges in the labour markets, pointing out their ability to overcome the crisis through the financial packages provided to ensure economic stability. He also pointed out the healthcare services provided to all citizens and residents in the GCC countries.
