Manama: Under the patronage of the Speaker of Bahrain’s Council of Representatives, Fawzia bint Abdulla Zainal, the Centre for Arab Parliamentary Diplomacy at the Arab Parliament, today launched the first Applied Diploma for Women Parliamentarians in the Arab World, themed “Modern Skills for Women Parliamentarians’ Parliamentary Work.” Addressing the opening ceremony, Zainal stressed that the importance of the diploma stems from the crucial role played by women parliamentarians in the Arab world, noting that after the empowerment phase, the focus now is on consolidating Arab women’s advancement, enhancing their role in building their societies and strengthening their effective participation in achieving sustainable development.
In this context, she presented an overview of the experience of Bahraini women and their growing role in all fields, in light of the support and enlightened vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, who laid the foundations for democratic and institutional work in the kingdom. Arab Parliament Speaker, Adel Al-Asoomi, indicated that Arab women’s issues top the priorities of the Arab Parliament’s agenda, citing its initiatives to support women, expressing hope that the diploma will contribute to building the capacities of Arab women in all fields. He also expressed thanks to Speaker Fawzia Zainal for patronising the first Applied Diploma for Women Parliamentarians in the Arab World.
