Bahrain : The fifth edition of the Smart City Summit will open on October 10 at the Gulf Convention Center under the patronage of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Minister Essam bin Abdulla Khalaf.
The summit will see the participation of 250 individuals from the public and private sectors, including engineers, consultants and specialists. The Ministry of Interior, the Information and eGovernment Authority and the Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning will also take part in the event.
The two-day event will also see participation from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the UAE, the UN, the USA and UNDP. It will cast light on key issues like smart cities solutions, future technology, waste management solutions and community partnership for environmental monitoring, and cities as a major center for implementing the sustainable development goals. It will also spotlight the initiatives of the Kingdom of Bahrain in smart city applications, the future of sustainable energy, and smart police applications for safe cities.
The summit will also shed light on BeAware Bahrain application as one of the kingdom’s success stories during the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.
Forty keynote speakers from the public and private sectors and non-government organisations will lecture in the event which will feature 10 discussion sessions during which 20 work papers will be presented.
During the summit, the Smart Cities Awards 2021 will be announced during the opening ceremony, and an accompanying exhibition will be held with the participation of 15 establishments from the public and private sectors.
