Bahrain : The number of people who had their vehicles inspected in private technical centers has increased by 300% in the first ten months of the year, Director of Licensing Affairs at the General Traffic Department Colonel Mohammed Mahmoud said.

The percentage of vehicles that passed the technical inspection reached 98% compared with the same period last year.

The General Traffic Department is looking into new requests to open more centers for light and heavy vehicles in the various governorates of the Kingdom, he added.

He said that Ministerial Resolution 113 / 2018 regulated the assignment of the vehicle technical inspection services to the private sector.

The decision aims to involve the private sector in providing a technical inspection service to reduce pressure on vehicle owners and enable them to use a technical inspection center in addition to the General Traffic Department.

The private inspection centers are supervised by the General Directorate of Traffic to ensure that they meet the technical requirements, he added.

The aim is to ensure similar services and standards in all centers following the qualification of technical examiners in the private centers.
