Former Australia spinner Shane Warne, considered as one of the all-time greats of the game who redefined spin bowling, has died of a suspected heart attack in Thailand.
Warne’s management released a brief statement in the early hours of Saturday (AEDT) saying that he passed away in Koh Samui, Thailand, of a suspected heart attack.
“Shane was found unresponsive in his villa and despite the best efforts of medical staff, he could not be revived,” the statement reads.
Australian captain Pat Cummins, currently leading the team on a tour of Pakistan, said legendary spinner Shane Warne, who died Friday, was “a hero” to the current generation of cricketers. “So many guys in this team and squad still hold him as a hero,” he said in a video message released to media Friday night.
