The Shura Council has expressed pride in the professional and civilisational role played by the national press to support the kingdom’s progress and contribute effectively to serving the nation and preserving its achievements.
In a statement marking the Bahrain Press Day, which is observed every May 7, the Shura Council asserted that the press in the kingdom has made a quantum leap during His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s prosperous era following the consolidation of the principles of the freedom of opinion and openness, which enabled it to undertake its patriotic honourable role through its commitment to responsible word and enlightened opinion.
The Shura Council also valued highly the initiatives of the government, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to encourage Bahraini press and media competencies to carry on their dedication and honourable stances in a responsible manner that enhances awareness and knowledge, entitling Bahrain to earn numerous Arab and international awards in the field of distinguished and effective press work.
The Council also paid tribute to the Bahrain Journalists’ Association (BJA) for the role it has been playing for more than two decades.
It also expressed appreciation for press and media personnel for their continuous interaction and coverage of the work of the legislative branch, as well as their keenness to highlight legislative achievements with transparency and impartiality.
He reiterated his unwavering support for the Bahraini press and its role in contributing to the democratic process in the kingdom during HM the King’s prosperous era.
