Brussels: Speaker Fawzia bint Abdullah Zainal met with Speaker of the Belgian Parliament, Eliane Tello, and President of the Belgian Senate, Stephanie D’Hose. The meeting highlighted the importance of the partnership between the two kingdoms’ parliaments, stressed that this meeting constitutes a step towards translating the common will to build on the distinguished relations that unite the two countries, and the continuous endeavor to develop relations of cooperation and coordination in all fields, and move to develop them.
Zainal reviewed the achievement made by Bahrain in addressing COVID-19, stressing that the national efforts headed by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, led to the impressive results to overcome the pandemic. The Speaker pointed to the steady progress that Bahrain is witnessing in developing the education and health systems, and the high effort it is recording in the field of human rights care.
She emphasized that the Kingdom has set out towards advanced levels in launching qualitative and innovative programs, as it has expanded the application of the Alternative Penal Code, and launched the Open Prisons Project. Zainal affirmed that the reform project of His Majesty the King, which was launched more than two decades ago, has produced examples of success to be emulated, noting that one of the most successful endeavors is the experience of Bahraini women, which has left a great impact on the transition of Bahraini women from the stage of empowerment to the stage of progress in all fields.
The Belgian speaker and senate president noted their admiration for what Bahrain presented as an exemplary model in the empowerment of Bahraini women to advanced levels, especially in the political field.
