Council of Representatives Speaker Fawzia bint Abdulla Zainal met Senator James E. Risch, Chairman of Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, on the sidelines of her official visit, along with a parliamentary delegation, to the United States of America.

She stressed the importance of stepping up parliamentary cooperation and building on strategic alliance and historic relations binding the Kingdom of Bahrain and the USA.

The Speaker highlighted Bahrain’s development and democratic strides, led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, stressing efforts to promote human rights and the values of tolerance, coexistence, dialogue and moderation.

She underscored the importance of supporting efforts to boost investment opportunities, develop economic cooperation and increase the volume of trade exchanges, in light of the memoranda of understanding signed during the fruitful visits of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

Senator Risch commended Bahrain’s reform strides which turned Bahrain within two decades into a developed country, stressing the importance of further bolstering joint cooperation.

The meeting was attended by Bahrain’s Ambassador to the USA Shaikh Abdulla bin Rashid Al Khalifa, Mps Ammar Al Bannai, Mohammed Al Abbassi, Ammar Qambar and Dr. Hesham Al Asheeri.
