Khartoum: Saudi aid airlift sent the first batch of more than 100 tons of food and shelter aid to support those affected by the torrential rains and floods in Sudan.
The support was dispatched by King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) in the implementation of the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. The two airplanes were received by Saudi Ambassador to Sudan Ali bin Hassan Jaafar.
The ambassador said that the humanitarian aid comes to alleviate the suffering of those affected by the torrential rains and floods in various Sudanese cities and governorates, noting that this reflects the strong bilateral relations, SPA reported.
He also stressed that the Kingdom will always remain supportive of international humanitarian work for all needy people around the world. This comes within the framework of the continuous Saudi support for humanitarian and relief work and to help the disadvantaged groups in all affected countries worldwide.
KSrelief delivered the third batch of relief aid to the National Disaster Management Authority Pakistan, which included 10,000 food baskets weighing 950 tons loaded on 100 trucks, to be distributed to those affected by the floods in Pakistan, benefiting 70,000 people. The handover was attended by the Saudi Ambassador to the Republic of Pakistan Nawaf bin Saeed Al Malki, Chairman of the National Disaster Management Authority Lieutenant General Akhtar Nawaz.
“This project comes as a continuation of the support provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the people of Pakistan, under the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and HRH the Crown Prince, through the KSrelief”, Ambassador Al Malki said.
