Britain’s new king Charles III prepared to meet with the prime minister Friday and address a nation mourning Queen Elizabeth II.
King Charles III, takes the throne in an era of uncertainty for the country and the monarchy .On the first day of duties , he is expected to meet Prime Minister Liz Truss and deliver a speech to the nation at a time when many Britons are preoccupied with an energy crisis, the soaring cost of living, the war in Ukraine and the fallout from Brexit.
He ascended to the throne Thursday after the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, fulfilling a destiny placed upon him at age 3, when she became the monarch in 1952. Charles’ wife, Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, now has the title of queen consort.
