Manama: Supreme Council for Health (SCH) President Lieutenant-General Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa patronised a panel discussion at A’ali Charity Society. Northern Governor Ali Abdulmohsen Al Asfoor and other senior officials attended the event which focused on the national insurance scheme (SEHATI). Addressing the session. Lt.Gen. Dr. Shaikh Mohammed stressed the key role of the community in ensuring the successful implementation of the programme.
He paid tribute to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister for their support to the health sector. He noted the self-management project which yielded the “Choose Your Doctor” programme, which aims to enhance the importance of the family physician as the first stop for patient follow-up.
“The self-management project is in line with the Government’s programs and strategies and embodies the objectives of the 2030 Bahrain Economic Vision 2030”, he said, stressing the importance of developing sustainable health services. Health Ministry Undersecretary Dr Waleed Khalifa Al Manea stressed the importance of following up and supporting efforts aimed at implementing the multi-phased health insurance scheme.
Government Hospitals Chief Executive Officer Dr Ahmed Mohammed Al Ansari gave an updated overview of the self management programmes at Government-run hospitals, stressing the importance of the scheme in enhancing the quality of medical services. He underlined the initiatives of Government hospitals to develop services, reduce the waiting time and speed up the pace of work on existing development projects, especially in the Salmaniya Medical Complex.
