Bahrain : Minister of Finance and National Economy, Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, has underscored Bahrain’s constant approach of promoting, coexistence, tolerance and openness, which reflects the visions and aspirations of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
The minister affirmed Bahrain’s status as an advanced civilizational model that boasts a historical heritage based on coexistence, pluralism and respect for religions. He underlined the kingdom’s keenness on promoting rapprochement between people and cultures and fostering peace. He said that diversity is a characteristic feature of the Bahraini society and economy.
The Minister of Finance and National Economy was speaking during a media briefing in which he was joined by Minister of Sustainable Development, Noor Bint Ali Al Khulaif. It was held on the sidelines of the historic visit of His Holiness Pope Francis to the Kingdom of Bahrain at an invitation of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
The two ministers expressed appreciation for the visit describing it as a proof showcasing Bahrain as land hosting and welcoming diverse religions and doctrines.
The Minister of Finance and National Economy stressed the kingdom’s ongoing approach of investing in developing skills and experiences to achieve goals and aspirations, develop the national economy and create promising job opportunities for citizens. He pointed out the kingdom’s continuous development accomplishments within the economic recovery plan which is based on five priorities being carried out in partnership with the private sector.
The Minister of Sustainable Development affirmed Bahrain’s constant approach of boosting the values of tolerance and cultural pluralism, which turned it into a civilizational model at all levels. She pointed out the kingdom’s efforts to empower Bahraini women as an essential partner in the development process. She commended the pioneering role of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), in this regard, under the presidency of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Consort of HM the King.
The minister pointed out the development projects in the Kingdom of Bahrain which seek to preserve the environment and ensure sustainability of its resources. She outlined the kingdom’s efforts in this respect and the measures taken to cut down carbon emissions and increase the green area through an afforestation scheme. She said that this is in fulfillment of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s commitments to reach zero neutrality by 2060 in order to meet the challenges of climate change and protect the environment.
The minister pointed out Bahrain’s keenness to continue the efforts to achieve the development goals of energy sustainability through the renewable energy projects, which confirms commitment to the international efforts to face climate change.
