Bangkok : Bahraini Ambassador to Thailand, Muna Abbas Mahmood Radhi, affirmed that marking the Bahraini Women’s Day on December 1 every year is an opportunity to highlight the achievements and contributions of Bahraini women to national development.
In a statement published by Expat Life and Elite Plus magazine, which is published in Thailand, the ambassador said that allocating a national day for Bahraini women came at an initiative fourteen years ago by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Consort of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women, in conjunction with the 80th anniversary of the establishment of women’s formal education.
The ambassador asserted that the comprehensive development march led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and supported by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrhim Al Khalifa, enabled Bahraini women to reach a distinguished level of progress and empowerment.
The ambassador said that Bahrain has made big strides over the past two decades in empowering Bahraini women in various areas. She pointed out the significance of establishing the Supreme Council for Women, describing it as a milestone in the kingdom’s history that testifies to the political will to promote the role of women in national development.
