Manama : Minister of Education and Chairman of the Higher Education Council, Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma’a, opened at Exhibition World Bahrain today the Global Higher Education Exhibition (GHEDEX 2023).
The expo was attended by Minister of Tourism Fatima bint Jafar Al Sairafi, Minister of Youth Affairs, Rawan bint Najeeb Tawfeeqi and officials. 53 higher education establishments and organisations from 10 countries participated in the two-day event.
In a speech delivered on the occasion, the Minister of Education and Chairman of the Higher Education Council asserted that Bahrain’s hosting of the international exhibition, which is held for the first time on its land, confirms the kingdom’s keenness on developing the educational sector. He praised the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa in this respect.
The exhibition is co-organized by Oman International trade and Exhibitions (OITE) Group and the Ministry of Education.
OITE Group Chief Executive, Amr Abdullah Baabood, expressed thanks and appreciation to the Kingdom of Bahrain for its cooperation in organizing the exhibition, which provides students and other interested people with the opportunity to learn about prestigious universities from the USA, the UK, Japan, Malaysia, India, Lebanon, the UAE, Oman, Turkey and the Kingdom of Bahrain.
A corner was also allocated to the Bahraini students projects in the fields of technology, artificial intelligence…etc. The exhibition will also feature workshops and panel discussions for a host of experts and specialists.
Winners of GHEDEX Excellence in Higher Education Awards were honoured in the event. They are the Applied Science University, the Arabian Gulf University, INJAZ Bahrain, the Royal University for Women, Vatel-Bahrain Hospitality School, the Arab Open University, the University of Technology Bahrain (UTB) and Al Jabriya Secondary Technical Boys School and Al Isteqlal Secondary Girls School.
