A Bahraini team performed two successful kidney transplant surgeries at the Salmaniya Medical Complex (SMC), in cooperation with Jordanian doctors.A thirty-year-old Bahraini woman donated a kidney to her brother, who is in his twenties, putting an end to his kidney failure and dialysis ordeal.A father in his fifties donated a kidney to his twenty-two-year old son, giving him the opportunity to live a normal life and pursue his activities.Kidney Disease department Chief Dr. Ali Al-Aradi and Head of Surgery Department Dr. Rani Al-Agha extended thanks to Health Minister Daeqa bint Said Al-Saleh , Undersecretary Dr. Walid Al-Manea, Assistant Undersecretary for Hospitals Dr. Mohammed Amine Al-Awadhi, SMC Chief Doctor Nabil Al-Asheeri and the High Committee for Overseas Treatment.
They also commended the Jordanian medical teams for their cooperation and efforts which contributed to the success of the kidney transplant surgeries and ensuring training for SMC medical teams’ training. Dr. Al-Aradi and Dr. Al-Agha announced that eight other kidney transplant surgeries would be carried out by late 2019.His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa gave directives to to implement advanced treatment programmes under to ensure patients quality health services and alleviate their pain.
