HH Receives Vice President of Amazon Web Services’ Worldwide Public Sector
HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs and President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports received in his office Ms Teresa Carlson, Vice President of Amazon Web Services’ Worldwide Public Sector in the presence of HH Shaikh Faisal bin Rashid Al Khalifa, member of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Head of the Coordination, Execution and Follow-up Committee as well as HE Mr Aymen bin Tawfeeq Almoayed, Minister of Youth and Sports Affairs. During the meeting, HH Shaikh Nasser pointed out that the Kingdom of Bahrain has become an attractive destination for major companies from all around the world.
“The Kingdom is now housing the regional headquarters of many big companies and this cements the efforts of HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister and HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander, First Deputy Prime Minister to make Bahrain the favorite venue for companies,” HH Shaikh Nasser said, adding: “Amazon Web Services’ decision to have Bahrain hosting its Middle East’s data centers will largely contribute to increasing the comprehensive growth of the economy and will cement Bahrain’s position in the technology and computing cloud field. It will highlight the Kingdom’s development milestones across various fields.”
Furthermore, HH Shaikh Nasser praised Amazon’s initiative to part of “Furas” (Opportunities) program which is overseen by the Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs and aims to provide Bahrainis with valuable vocational training opportunities. From her side, the Vice President of Amazon Web Services’ Worldwide Public Sector hailed HH Shaikh Nasser’s interest in the works being carried out by Amazon in Bahrain in the field of technology and computing cloud, stating that the Kingdom has become the company’s regional hub in the Middle East and this would enable it to meet the goals set out by Amazon. She expressed her delight after Amazon Web Services joined “Furas”, pointing out that the company would strive to work with its partners in the initiative to offer vocational training to the Bahraini youth.
