Social media buzzing with creativity in isolation

With most children housebound across the globe, the coronavirus crisis is inspiring creativity. Social media is buzzing with posts and videos of children taking likes to cooking, musical skills and even showcasing colourful palettes. Taking to Twitter, “Been isolating at home with my wife and kids for a week now. For my contribution to homeschooling my kids (aged 6 & 4) I chose the most obvious thing – creating a shot-by-shot recreation of the jet pack sequence from THUNDERBALL out of LEGO” said a parent.

“As coronavirus is spreading, so are virtual card games, exercise sessions, dance lessons, meditation time, health appointments, student lesson plans and creativity of parents doing scavenger hunts, art, music and sports with kids at home. Being flexible is key” said Dr Robert Kushner. Meanwhile, to help with social distancing, children’s favourite comics Amar Chitra Katha and Tinkle had offered their entire catalogue for free, for 30 days. The initiative named “‘Thoda Reading Corona” was launched in a bid to keep kids busy and entertained while staying at home.

Meanwhile, comic and graphic novels collections have also been assimilated into one for all age groups missing books and wanting to re-live the past. The collections contain Asterix ( all books), Calvin & Hobbes (all strips), Craig Thompson (all books), Dilbert (1994-2002), Garfield (1978-2008), Guy Delisle ( two books), Joe Sacco (all books), Sarah Andersen (two books) and Tintin (all books).
