Miss England Bhasha Mukherjee returns to medical career to join the fight against COVID-19

Bhasha Mukherjee was crowned Miss England in 2019. Seeing the rapid spread of COVID-19 cases and the need for medical help, she has decided to put her crown aside, to resume her career as a junior doctor amid the coronavirus pandemic.

After winning the Miss England title, Mukherjee represented England in the Miss World pageant in December 2019. That is when she had decided to take a break from her career in medicine as she was being invited by several charities to be their ambassador. Back then, she chose to do humanitarian work and planned to completely focus on it until August 2020.

Recently, she returned to the United Kingdom after doing her humanitarian work overseas. In fact, the 24-year-old had been in India for several weeks in March as an ambassador of the Coventry Mercia Lions Club for charity work that involved monetarily helping school children and girls who have been abandoned.

But as the COVID-19 pandemic spread in the UK, her former colleagues informed her about how the situation was worsening in the hospital she had worked in. At that point, she took the decision to return to her career as a specialist in respiratory medicine.

After her quarantine period gets over, the Miss England will return as a junior doctor to help her colleagues in healing people.

Her decision signifies how the medical community all over the world is stepping up to fight the coronavirus pandemic.
