The UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHaP) on Thursday announced 502 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total cases reported in the country to 16,240.
MoHaP also announced the death of 8 people from COVID-19, taking the total death toll to 165.
The MoHaP noted 33,000 tests had been conducted across the country.
There were also 213 recoveries reported in the last 24 hours, more than double the daily average reported in the past few days.
This takes the total recoveries in UAE to 3,572.
Meanwhile, Malls have started welcoming customers, the government has advised that senior citizens and children must remain at home.
Earlier this week, the MoHaP and the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority in a joint announcement stated that people over the age of 60 and children younger than 12 are prohibited from entering shopping malls, cooperative societies, and supermarkets. They are also prohibited from entering retail stores located outside shopping centres.
