Bahrain : Ukrainian debutant Aleksander Doskalchuk has high hopes of joining BRAVE Combat Federation. as the former M-1 Global flyweight champion will be making his maiden appearance under the promotion’s banner on August 21st.
The 31-year-old native of Chernivtsi, Ukraine is set to duke it out with hometown favorite Asu “Zulfikar” Almabaev on the supporting card of BRAVE CF 53, which emanates from the beautiful and historic Kazakh city of Almaty.
Doskalchuk hasn’t been in action since November 2018 when he successfully defended his belt against Finnish veteran Mikael Silander by unanimous decision.
Since then, Doskalchuk has put a pause on his career due to several factors. Now, he’s ready to climb back into the cage and resume his climb to the top.
He expects to pick up right where he left off. In order to reach the upper echelon of BRAVE CF’s stacked flyweight division, he has to get past Almabaev—one of the promotion’s highly-touted recruits and a fellow M-1 Global champion.
Ranked No. 3 among active flyweights in Central Asia, Almabaev turned heads with his impressive professional record of 12-2 with six wins via submission and two by knockout.
Moreover, he has not tasted a single defeat since April 2017, riding high on a remarkable eight-bout winning streak—with five of those victories coming by way.
Despite the credentials that Almabaev possesses, Doskalchuk believes he still has the better qualities of a mixed martial artist.”I am at another level as a fighter. My class is higher than Asu. My fighter’s IQ and experience are higher than his,” he said.
