Arab Ship Shipbuilding and repair Yard (ASRY) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with ONEX Shipyards Greece with the aim to collaborate on knowledge and experience sharing in the sector of maritime repair, technology, optimization, modernization and to explore future business opportunities.

The MoU was signed virtually between the two companies in the presence of Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the Greek Prime Minister who was visiting ONEX shipyards at that time.

Mitsotakis expressed his gratitude to ASRY for taking this first step to engage with one of the historical Greek shipyards, which reflects Bahrain’s advanced capabilities in terms of economic cooperation.

Managing Director and Board Member of ASRY Mazen Matar signed the MoU on behalf of ASRY with his counterpart Panos Xenokostas, President and CEO of ONEX Group, signing on behalf of ONEX Shipyards.

Matar expressed his deep appreciation to the Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis for his support and to the CEO and President of ONEX Group Panos Xenokostas, for signing the MoU.

“We are looking forward to the positive results of this MoU, which opens up a new horizon for the development of ASRY’s business on an international scale,” Matar said.

“For decades now, ASRY has been working with and providing its services to the major Greek shipowners. The signing of this MoU today only strengthens these relations and takes them to broader dimensions not only for the repair and maintenance of Greek Ships, but for entering partnerships with the Greek shipyards. The ONEX Group is one of the leading Greek business groups with a wide range of specialized companies such as ONEX Shipyards whom we look forward to seriously working with soon.”

Xenokostas expressed his contentment with signing this MoU with such a renowned international shipyard as ASRY.

“We are very pleased to join forces with the Arabian Gulf’s leading maritime & industrial optimization yard ASRY,” he said.

“Together we can implement the best practices and exchange valuable know-how for the benefit of our shared clientele. Our alliance will leverage our competitiveness to address the global market, so we look forward to starting to unfold all this great potential of our cooperation as soon as possible”.

The ONEX Shipyards & Technologies Group, headquartered in New York, was established in 2004 and offers a diversified portfolio of activities in strategic business sectors such as shipbuilding, ship repairing, homeland security, defense, aviation, maritime, ICT, IoT, Energy and more, with global partnerships and customers.
