Pakistan : Protests erupted across Pakistan on Tuesday, hours after the country’s former prime minister Imran Khan was arrested by the country’s anti-corruption agency. Mr Khan was arrested during an Islamabad High Court hearing on Tuesday. Footage of the arrest showed dozens of paramilitary troops in riot-control gear surrounding him and leading him to a black van. New York : A New York jury on Tuesday found former US president Donald Trump liable for sexual assault against writer E Jean Carroll in an incident that occurred in the 1990s. The jury did not find Mr Trump liable for rape. Jurors also found that Mr Trump had defamed Ms Carroll in a Truth Social post, in which he called her claims a “con job”. Washington : Novavax is cutting about a quarter of its global workforce as the COVID-19 vaccine maker seeks to slash expenses while dealing with uncertain future revenue. The company said Tuesday that it expects to trim next year’s costs for research and development as well as selling, general and administrative expenses by about 40% to 50% compared to 2022. Dublin :  Ryanair will order 150 Boeing 737 Max planes with an option for 150 more, marking the biggest aircraft purchase in the Irish airline’s history and a boost for Boeing. At Boeing’s list prices, the deal would be worth more than $40 billion if Ryanair exercises all the options, but airlines routinely get deep discounts. Financial terms were not disclosed. Wellington : Authorities in Auckland declared a state of emergency as flooding again hit New Zealand’s largest city. Further north in the city of Whangārei, a high school student was missing after a school group that was exploring caves got into trouble when floodwaters hit. Fire and emergency crews said they had responded to more than 200 calls, most of them in Auckland.
