Bahrain: The Ministry of works UPDA completed 56% of the main rainwater drainage line construction, which connect to housing projects in Al Aker area. Eng. Saleh Tradah mentioned that the project aims to mitigate rainwater accumulated in that area which is also a joint effort between the Ministry of Works and Capital to develop the infrastructure in the Capital Governorate and rehabilitate the most affected areas during the rainy season.

A gilded toilet and other luxuries were found in a mansion raided by Russian investigators, who say they busted a gang of corrupt police. The Investigative Committee (SK) website has a video showing extravagant interiors in a huge mansion, among many properties raided. Col Alexei Safonov, head of traffic police in the southern Stavropol region, was arrested with six others. Traffic police allegedly took bribes for issuing fake permits to businesses. The permits allegedly enabled drivers to pass through police checkpoints with unauthorised cargoes of grain and building materials. The accused have not yet commented on the charges.

Beijing: The heaviest rains in decades have caused massive flooding in the central Chinese metropolis of Zhengzhou. State media reported 16 deaths on Wednesday,  expected more deaths.  Saving lives was the “top priority,” Chinese President Xi Jinping was quoted as saying. The floodwaters inundated the underground system, where hundreds of people were trapped on trains and also in tunnels, as reported by state media and eyewitnesses on social media. Tokyo: The update on the Tokyo Olympics, which are taking place under heavy restrictions after a year’s delay because of the coronavirus pandemic, said an AP report. Brisbane will host the 2032 Olympics, the inevitable winner of a one-city race steered by the International Olympic Committee to avoid rival bids.
