Gulf Air, the national carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain, rewarded a total of 56 employees from different divisions and departments of the airline in celebration of Labour Day. Manama: The Police Media Centre at the Interior Ministry has, over the past days, noticed some inciting news reports broadcast by the Qatari government-sponsored Al Jazeera Channel. The statements quote European Parliamentarians alleging their concern over the human rights situation at the Reformation and Rehabilitation Centre in “Jau” and demanding the release of specific names, claiming they are “prisoners of opinion”. The Interior Ministry affirmed that the incitement campaign of the Qatari channel through the support of their owners is an aggressive campaign against Bahrain and has nothing to do with slogans the channel uses for “media consumption”. New York: Media stories on the early days of the Biden administration focused more on policy than personality, a marked contrast to the beginning of Donald Trump’s presidency, a study released Wednesday found. Nearly two-thirds of Biden stories during his first two months in office were on his policy agenda and ideology, and 35% about his character and leadership style, the Pew Research Center found, The Associated Press reports. For Trump, three-quarters of the early stories were about his character and leadership, Pew said. Britain has no surplus of COVID-19 vaccines to give to India as it faces a deadly wave of coronavirus that puts intense pressure on hospitals, health minister Matt Hancock said on Wednesday. Britain has given ventilators and oxygen concentrators to India, but Hancock said Britain was currently not in a position to give any vaccines. “We don’t have any excess doses of vaccine in the UK at the moment,” Hancock said at a news conference.

India’s western state of Maharashtra, home to the financial capital Mumbai, may extend its lockdown by a fortnight until mid-May to try to halt a rise in coronavirus cases, the state’s health minister said on Wednesday.
