The National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA) has licensed the first factory to produce medical face masks in Bahrain, as part of the kingdom’s efforts to enhance medical investments, especially those aimed at supporting its efforts to combat the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). The Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs (NPRA) announced on Saturday the re-extension of all types of visit visas until 21 January 2021 with fee exception to all visitors. The announcement was part of the implementation of decisions of the executive committee led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister. Sharjah Charity International (SCI) stated in a report that it assisted 7,206 eye patients with blindness and eye diseases at a financial value of AED3.2 million from 2012 until the end of 2019, thanks to the support and donations of philanthropists. The report coincides with the World Sight Day, observed on the 15th October every year. The Bahrain health ministry has launched the Rapid COVID-19 Test service on a trial basis. Primary Healthcare Labs Chief Batoul Al-Alawi said that 20,000 tests would be initially conducted, focusing on teachers, students, medical teams on the frontline and symptomatic patients. The Rapid Test detects COVID-19 infections through a nasal swab with an accurate diagnosis of the patient’s condition within 15 minutes without the need for a specialised laboratory.
