The rules organizing the money exchange business forbid any natural or legal person from practicing money exchanging in the Kingdom without holding a valid license issued by the Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority (SAMA). The rules approved by the Council of Ministers recently ban the use of any expressions hinting the practice of money exchange without a license. Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources has disclosed that it granted last month 71 new licenses to firms having a combined total of 1.6 billion riyals capital and employing 2,991 regular workers. Labour and Social Development Minister, Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, has announced that a total of BD 17 million will be disbursed to the citizens benefiting from government subsidies on September 15, in accordance with the criteria and regulations in force.
