Undersecretary of the Kuwaiti National Guard Lieut. Gen. Hashem Al-Refaei on Thursday opened a new quarantine centre for the body’s personnel infected with COVID-19. The new facility is part of the National Guard’s efforts to back the efforts of health authorities and to ease out the pressure on hospitals and quarantine buildings, he told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), reporters. The general commended the agency’s personnel for having completed and equipped the new facility in line with relevant health criteria in record time. Bahrain has reported 285 new COVID-19 cases among 208 expatriate workers and 77 contacts of active cases. These new cases bring up the total cases in the kingdom to 9,977 and there are 4,667 active cases of which 9 are critical and the rest stable, according to the Ministry of Health. There are currently 33 COVID-19 cases receiving treatment. MOH also reported 143 new recoveries from COVID-19, bringing the total recoveries in the country to 5,295. Friday prayers will resume in Bahrain’s mosques starting June 5, the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments has said. The decision is based on the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to resume Friday prayers with the obligation of applying the precautionary measures announced by the National taskforce for Combating the Coronavirus to mitigate the spread of the virus. Saudi Arabia has reported 1,644 new coronavirus infections during the past 24 hours, raising the total to 80,185, according to the health ministry. The number of new daily cases has since been decreasing day by day. Kuwait has reported 845 new coronavirus cases, taking the total confirmed cases in the country 24,112, according to the Ministry of Health. 10 patients died of the coronavirus in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths to 185. 752 new recoveries have been reported in the country, raising the total recoveries to 8,698. Director-General of Capital Governorate Police announced on Wednesday the arrest of three Bahrainis aged 26, 32 and 35. They are suspected of stealing electronic devices from a house in Sitra and using a car inside the house to transport the theft items after stealing its key. He said that an investigation into the case revealed that the suspects were spotted by the CCTVs of the house while breaking into the house from the kitchen window.
