Bahrain has reported 45 new COVID-19 cases, of which 41 are among expatriate workers, 3 are travel-related and 1 is a contact of an active case, this takes today’s cases to 356. UAE announced 941 new COVID-19 cases, taking the total cases in the country to 26,004, according to the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP). MoHAP also announced the death of 6 more people from COVID-19, rising the country’s death toll to 233. 1,018 new recoveries have been reported in UAE, bringing the total recoveries to 11,809, according to the health ministry. The British government is still working on the details of how it will implement quarantine measures for people arriving in the country, interior minister Priti Patel said on Wednesday. “We are still developing measures, so we are not in the position to say ‘this is how it’s going to work’,” Patel said during an interview on LBC radio. “In terms of how this will work, we will be announcing this shortly,” she said, confirming only that the duration of quarantine would be 14 days.

Spain has made it compulsory for all citizens, including children over six, to wear masks in public spaces as one of Europe’s strictest lockdowns gradually unwinds. Egypt announced 720 new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) on Tuesday, taking the confirmed cases to 13,484, according to the health ministry. India’s Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan is set to take charge as the chairman of the World Health Organization (WHO) Executive Board on May 22.
