Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe will declare a state of emergency on Tuesday, lasting for approximately one month, he announced Monday. Abe will hold a press conference on Tuesday to further explain the declaration. The Ministry of Health of Oman announced on Monday the registration of 33 new positive cases with coronavirus, COVID-19, taking the total tally in the Sultanate to 331, in addition to two deaths. The ministry also pointed out that 61 patients have recovered from the virus, state news agency ONA reported.
Kuwait’s Minister of Health Shaikh Dr. Basel Al Sabah on Monday announced the recovery of four cases from the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), raising the country’s total recoveries to 103. The minister told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that lab tests and analyses had shown the recovery of the patients, two nationals and two residents. The cases will be admitted to a rehabilitation ward before being discharged from the hospital, the minister added.
Nadia, a tiger at the Bronx Zoo in New York, has become the first of her kind to test positive for the coronavirus. The 4-year-old female Malayan tiger tested positive after developing a dry cough and is expected to recover, the Wildlife Conservation Society’s Bronx Zoo said in a news release. According to Johns Hopkins University’s tally of cases in the United States, there are at least 321,762 cases of coronavirus in the US and 9,132 people have died. On Sunday, there have been at least 9,517 new cases and at least 636 new deaths reported in the country. On Friday, there were 1,169 new deaths reported in the US. On Saturday, 1,344 people died from the disease. The total includes cases from all 50 states, the District of Columbia and other U.S. territories, as well as all repatriated cases.
