Manama : The winners of the seventh edition of the Prime Minister’s Award for Journalism have described it as a platform for journalists to compete and develop innovative ideas. They were speaking following the award distribution ceremony, held today under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. Manama : Bahrain News Agency (BNA) won the “Best Photography Award” in the seventh edition of the Prime Minister’s Award for Journalism, which was held under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. Photographer Yousif Tulefat from BNA took the photo of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Holiness Pope Francis during the latter’s visit to Bahrain in November 2022. The photo, which documents a historical event, affirms the vision of coexistence and peace advocated by HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
Manama : The Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) conducted a joint inspection campaign in the Capital Governorate, in coordination with the Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs (NPRA) of the Ministry of Interior and the Capital Governorate Police Directorate. The campaign resulted in reporting violations related to the Labour Market and Residency laws. The cases were referred for legal action. UK diabetes specialist nurse Margaret Shepherd has been awarded the Aster Guardians Global Nursing Award for her work in combatting genetic diabetes. A lead nurse for research at the Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust, the 60-year-old mother of three set up a national network of genetic diabetes nurses in the UK in 2002 to raise awareness of the little-known monogenic form of the condition. Manama : Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture Minister, Wael bin Nasser Al-Mubarak, has affirmed that the Ministry will continue improving the services it provides to fishermen. This can be done through developing services in ports and modernising the infrastructure of the fishing sector to meet the needs of its workers, which will contribute to increasing food production, he said. Washington : General Motors (GM.N) said on Friday it will recall nearly 1 million sport utility vehicles in the United States because the driver’s air-bag inflator may explode during deployment The recall covers 994,763 Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse, and GMC Acadia vehicles from the 2014 through 2017 model years with modules produced by ARC Automotive Inc. Dealers will replace the driver’s air-bag module. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said a driver in Michigan of a 2017 Chevrolet Traverse was in a crash in which the front-driver airbag inflator ruptured during deployment causing facial injuries. Washington : U.S. import prices increased in April for the first time since late 2022 amid higher fuel costs, but imported inflation pressures remained subdued. Import prices rose 0.4% last month after dropping 0.8% in March, the Labor Department said on Friday. Last month’s increase was the first since December 2022. Economists polled had forecast import prices, which exclude tariffs, would increase 0.3%. Import prices in the 12 months through April fell 4.8%, matching the decline in March.
