Beijing : A Chinese airline on Friday became the first customer to take delivery of a long-range jetliner produced by a state-owned manufacturer set up to try to compete with Boeing and Airbus. The Commercial Aircraft Corp. of China’s C919 is part of the ruling Communist Party effort’s to transform the country into a creator of profitable technologies and reduce reliance on foreign products. Three earthquakes struck different parts of Indonesia on Thursday morning, two weeks after more than 300 were killed in a West Java quake. A magnitude-5.8 earthquake struck south-east of Sukabumi city in West Java shortly before 8am local time, the national geophysical agency said. At 123.7km deep, it shook the capital, Jakarta, where high-rise buildings swayed and people were ordered to evacuate. Another quake of 4.7 magnitude hit off the West Java coast two hours later, followed by a magnitude 5.3 quake near Sarmi, in Papua province.
