AMMAN: Two people were killed and 14 others were reportedly injured when a four-story residential building collapsed in Jordan’s capital Amman. The Public Security Department said eight people were pulled from the rubble in the El-Luweibdeh area. Officials attributed the collapse to poor foundations and weak supporting structures. However, residents told Arab News that they believed work on a new adjacent building had contributed to the failure.

YEREVAN : Azerbaijani forces shelled Armenia’s territory Tuesday and killed at least 49 Armenian soldiers. The hostilities erupted minutes after midnight, with Azerbaijani forces unleashing an artillery barrage and drone attacks in many sections of Armenian territory, according to the Armenian Defense Ministry. Moscow : Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has agreed to restore the former name of the country’s capital just three years after he renamed it in honor of his predecessor, his spokesperson said Tuesday. One of Tokayev’s first moves upon taking office in 2019 after President Nursultan Nazarbayev stepped down was to call for Kazakhstan’s capital, Astana, to be dubbed Nur-Sultan instead. Tokayev’s spokesman, Ruslan Zheliban, said the president agreed to the name change after an initiative by a group of parliament members, reports AP.
