Bahrain : The embassy of India has organized a two-hour virtual open house during which Ambassador Piyush Srivastava thanked the Government of Bahrain, Bahraini dignitaries, Heads of Diplomatic Missions and members of Indian community for their participation in 73rd Republic Day celebrations held at the Embassy in a hybrid manner. Jakarta : A strong and shallow earthquake hit off the coast of Indonesia’s Sumatra island on Friday, killing 2 people and injuring 20, damaging buildings and panicking people in Sumatra island and neighboring Malaysia and Singapore. The U.S. Geological Survey said the earthquake measured 6.2 magnitude and struck about 66 kilometers (41 miles) north-northwest of Bukittinggi, a hilly town in West Sumatra province. Kuala Lumpur : The Asian Champions League is set to move closer to its European namesake in its schedule and the number of foreign players each team is allowed, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) said Friday. Amman : Archaeologists have discovered a stone age site dating back to 7,000 B.C. in a remote desert in Jordan, with structures which show humans were rounding up and hunting gazelles much earlier than previously thought. The team of French and Jordanian experts also found over 250 artifacts at the site, including exquisite animal figurines which they believe were used in rituals to invoke supernatural forces for successful hunts. Bahrain : His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa today ratified and issued Law (5) of 2022, amending some provisions of the Articles of Association and by-law of the Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC), established as per Decree-Law (18) of 1979. The Ministry of Defence plans to sign a contract to buy 12 military fighter jets from China, with the option to purchase 36 more at a later date.
