Bahrain : Saar Club table tennis player Mohammed Abbas clinched the National Day championship after beating his teammate Sayyed Mortadha Hussein by three sets to two. Dubai : A musical production helmed by world-renowned director Shekhar Kapur and with music from Oscar-winning composer A R Rahman will premiere at Expo 2020 Dubai’s Al Wasl Plaza in January. Bahrain :  Following approval by the Vaccination Committee, the National Medical Taskforce for Combatting the Coronavirus (COVID-19) has announced that a second booster shot has been approved for individuals aged 18 years and above who received three doses of the Sinopharm vaccine (first dose, second dose, and first booster shot), after 3 months of taking the first booster shot. A fire caused by a “major industrial accident” at an industrial facility in the US state of Texas injured four people, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office said on Thursday morning. WASHINGTON :  U.S. health regulators on Wednesday authorized the first pill against COVID-19, a Pfizer drug that Americans will be able to take at home to head off the worst effects of the virus. The long-awaited milestone comes as U.S. cases, hospitalizations and deaths are all rising and health officials warn of a tsunami of new infections from the omicron variant that could overwhelm hospitals. India’s federal Health Ministry has asked regional governments to impose nightly curfews and set up war rooms to tackle the spread of the Omicron Covid-19 variant that has sparked fears of an impending third wave of the virus.
