Brussels: Two Spanish cities are vying, alongside five other cities, in the competition for the European Capital of Smart Tourism 2022. The European Commission said that the seven shortlisted cities in the competition were Bordeaux (France), Copenhagen (Denmark), Dublin (Ireland), Florence (Italy), Ljubljana (Slovenia), Palma (Spain) and Valencia (Spain). The seven finalist cities were selected from 30 applications from across 16 countries. Bahrain : Director-General of Traffic, Brigadier Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Abdulwahab Al Khalifa, has revealed a reduction in road traffic injuries and fatalities by 60% until 2020 after implementing the comprehensive traffic strategy. Launched in 2015, the strategy reduced such accidents by 25% from last year until 2021, making Bahrain the top in the region in the drop of traffic accidents rates. Kuwait : A 3.1-magnitude earthquake occurred north east of Kuwait, said the Kuwait National Seismic Network (KNSN) on Saturday. In a statement, KNSN said that the quake happened at 3:18 a.m. local-time in Kuwait at a depth of seven kilometers. The Indian Community Relief Fund (“ICRF”) Thirst-Quenchers 2021 team continue to distribute bottled water, fruits and sweets to the workers. Today’s distribution was held at a work site in Riffa area for around 80 workers. This is the 11th week and the program is supported by Bohra community in Bahrain. They also provided a well packed Biriyani (lunch) in steel carriage to all the workers today.
