Bahrain : His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, today issued Edict (45) of 2021, appointing Yousif Yaqub Lori as Director of Information and Follow-up at the Capital Governorate. The Minister of Interior shall implement the provisions of the edict, which takes immediate effect, and will be published in the Official Gazette.

Bahrain : His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa today issued Royal Decree 86/2021, appointing Dr. Khalid Ahmed Al-Matawa as Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Information and e-Government Authority (iGA). The Interior Minister shall implement the Royal Decree, which takes immediate effect, and will be published in the Official Gazette.

Geneva: The World Health Organization (WHO) has classified a coronavirus strain called Mu, which was first identified in Colombia in January, as a “variant of interest.” The WHO said in its weekly Covid-19 epidemiological report that there were indications Mu’s mutations enable it to evade antibodies in vaccinated or recovered people even better than other variants, dpa reported. Afghanistan : US Secretary of Defence Lloyd Austin said  that he would visit the Middle East next week to thank partners for sheltering Afghan evacuees.
