Bahrain : Bahrain’s Ministry of Finance and National Economy today reported its Biannual Financial Report 2021 for the period ending 30 June. There were several key highlights. During the first half of 2021, net government revenues increased by 23% YoY to BHD 119 million. This was primarily due to a 33% increase in oil revenues caused by higher oil prices, while non-oil revenues increased by 4% YoY. Actual government expenditure decreased by 4% YoY to BHD 1639, while recurrent expenditure decreased by 2% YoY. This reduced the deficit by 35% to BHD 520 million. Tokyo :  Japan’s coronavirus state of emergency will continue through Sept. 12 rather than finishing at the end of this month as initially planned, the government decided Monday. With the virus continuing to spread in the country, the state of emergency for Tokyo, Osaka, Okinawa, and three other regions which began in July will be extended and expanded, reports AP. Amman :  Bahrain bagged the gold medal in the Arab Table Tennis Championship, currently held in Amman, Jordan. Mariam Al’ali and Amrita Amit outclassed Jordan (3/0) in the table tennis women’s doubles, followed by Egypt and Qatar. Bahrain brings its tally in the championship to one gold medal, one bronze and two silver. Bahrain :  The Central Bank of Bahrain announced that the monthly issue of the Sukuk Al-Salam Islamic securities, has been oversubscribed by 407%. Subscriptions worth BD 175.217 million were received for the BD 43 million issue, which carries a maturity of 91 days. The expected return on the issue, which begins on August 18 and matures on November 17, is 1.50% compared to 1.45% of the previous issue on July 14. The Sukuk Al-Salam are issued by the CBB on behalf of the Government of Bahrain. This is issue No.244 (BH000107S864) of the short-term Sukuk Al-Salam series.
